It IS like Henry Ford said, “Nothing happens until someone sells something.” It’s the dollars that come in from sales that fuel an enterprise, pay salaries (including yours), and fund growth.

Being a salesperson isn’t owning your own business, is it? Or is it? Mark Cuban (Shark Tank) and Mark Lemonis (CBS The Profit) both said that, if they had to start over, they’d sell cars! Cuban would save his earnings to start his next venture.  How about you? Don’t spend what you make. Invest it in your Start-Over Success. 

Besides, if you are in business, you’d better be selling!

Advice for salespeople sounds like that for business people deciding on what products and services to sell. 

Think about what to sell.

  • Big ticket means big income, but so do small ticket items that gazillions of people will buy.
  • Pick an industry that is on an upswing.
  • There are two kinds of selling: Prospecting and Closing. As a salesperson, you might want to focus on prospecting. In your business, you need to do both!
  • You don’t have to be a “Wolf of Wall Street.” You can do a lot of good because of making a lot of sales. 
  • When you are successful at sales, you write your own ticket.

Some people don't like the idea of selling.

Nothing will happen to improve your income without improving sales. Either you take the reins and do the selling or delegate that crucial task to someone else. But there must be sales! The fact is, you can’t be highly paid without sales! 

When I was a salesperson in the investment industry, I took several sales training programs. Invest in yourself. Consider these options:

As a salesperson, you may want to seek employment with one of the industries listed here. Think of the opportunities with each of these industries. Some of the top salaries and high-income sales positions are included here. 

For some sales jobs, a college degree is required, as is passing a test and getting a license. 

But there are top-paying sales jobs that are not included on the list, like auto and real estate sales. No degrees are required. There is an exam for getting a real estate license and $59-$269 for an online prep class. 

After that, dress for success and you can start making money. 

If you have an online audience or subscribers for your business (like with a blog or YouTube channel), you can make Affiliate Product sales.

No matter what business you’re in, you are selling to get new clients and get referrals.

My biggest sales job is for you to build your Start-Over success and live your best life. Like any salesperson, I provide evidence, build relationships, and present compelling arguments. Like Abraham Maslow said, “That which you can do, you must do.” 

The pandemic taught us that people can and will connect well online. Zoom is the most familiar app for interactions, conference calls, and more.
